C.O.P.S. Parents Weekend is planned for surviving parents and step-parents of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, as determined by C.O.P.S. criteria. Couples as well as single parents are encouraged to attend. Other relatives and friends are not eligible to attend.
Suffering the loss of a child is the most unimaginable heartbreak for any parent, particularly when it occurs suddenly in the line of duty. In the aftermath, grieving parents not only face their sorrow but also strive to support their family members through this painful grief.
At C.O.P.S. Parents Weekend, licensed mental health professionals are available to guide you through group sessions that address both individual and family grief. You will also find support in connecting with other parents who share similar experiences and can truly relate to your loss. Support sessions are coupled with wellness activities, giving you the chance to challenge yourself, connect with others, and reflect. With the peaceful escape Parents Weekend offers, our goal is for you to leave with new tools for your continued grief journey ahead, an expanded support network, and a renewed sense of personal growth.
